inspiring joy in everyday moments

About

#dojoynow started as a fun way to connect with my social media friends while hospitalized for complications from metastatic breast cancer.

Dawn was diagnosed breast cancer in 2016 but had been managing the disease while living a vibrant, full life with her five children in Suffolk, Va. In January of 2018 her health began to decline, and by July, she had been in and out of the hospital with various complications more than 10 times! The cancer was hijacking her life, and she began to appreciate the normal, everyday things that she had once taken for granted.

She realized that intentionally finding JOY in the simplicity of everyday life was beautiful and life-changing, so she challenged her social media friends to look for JOYful moments throughout their day and post them on social media. We began using the hashtag #dojoynow! She loved seeing all of the wonderful ways her friends and family were “doing JOY.” The hashtag helped build a community of JOYful people intentionally living their everyday lives and recognizing the beauty in the simplicity of normalcy. She had lost the normalcy of my life as she spent months in a hospital bed wishing she could be home with her precious family. Her friends and family helped her remain JOYful!

Dawn inspired thousands with her positive and inspiring attitude.  We continue to honor Dawn with Do Joy Now and proceeds of all merch are given to families in need of financial help after a cancer diagnosis.

. Making any contribution to these families can ease this difficult burden.
